Swainsboro Raceway Last Points Race for 2013 Season!

Eighty six cars rolled into Swainsboro Raceway for the last points race of the 2013 racing season. After qualifying, Brandon Carpenter and Chesley Dixon led the eighteen car field to green in the Zaxby’s Crate Late Model division. Chesley Dixon took the lead off turn two for lap one with Brandon Carpenter in second and Ben Faircloth third. After a caution on lap seven, Faircloth manages to slip by Carpenter to take over the second position. With three laps to go, the leaders ran into lapped traffic allowing Faircloth to put the pressure on Dixon for the lead. Chesley Dixon took the checkered, Ben Faircloth grabbed second, Brandon Overton third, Joshua Bishop fourth, and Austin Scarboro rounded out the top five. Congratulations to Hurricane Henry Carter for picking up the 2013 Zaxby’s Crate Late Model Points Championship!
After a single file restart in the Sunoco Super Street division, Luke Scott led the field with Daniel Rowland and Lance Beck battling side by side for second. Lap three, Beck spun off turn two running in the third position. Lap four, Rowland running in second broke coming off turn three ending his night early allowing Dustin Watkins to move into second. Scott and Watkins have battled many times over the racing season for first position. Saturday night racing action added a little extra battle as only a few points separate the two from earning the 2013 points championship. Lap six, TJ Purvis took away the fifth position from Jamie Whitaker. Halfway, Michael Smith takes second place off turn two from Watkins. As Smith moved in on Scott to battle for the lead, Scott took the white flag. Stacked up behind lapped traffic going into turn three, Michael Smith moved to the inside as Luke Scott was stuck behind a lapped car, Smith took the lead. Michael Smith took the checkered for his first win at Swainsboro Raceway, Luke Scott picked up second and the 2013 Sunoco Super Street Points Championship, Dustin Watkins finished strong in third, Rod Wiggins fourth, and on the last lap TJ Purvis broke in turn three giving up the fifth position to Jamie Whitaker. In the Adams Construction Road Warrior division, battling for $1000 to win, Alf Wimberly and Tyler Holt led the field to green. Tyler Holt took the lead and Wimberly fell into second with Chris Martin and Eric Weber battling for the third position. Lap two, Chris Martin held the third position and Justin Hart took over the fourth position. Lap three, Eric Weber moved inside Hart to regain the fourth position. Lap four, Justin Hart was forced to pit with a flat. Lap five Eric Weber pitted ending his night early. Also on lap five, Justin Hart running in the fourth position slipped allowing Matt Towns and Chris Martin to pass. Tyler Holts takes the checkered and clinches the title for 2013 Adams Construction Road Warrior Champion, Alf Wimberly grabbed second, Matt Towns third, Derrick Screws fourth, and Steven Stapleton fifth. Congratulations Tyler Holt, first time, 2013 Adams Construction Road Warrior Points Champion!
Taking the lead for the second time of the night Luke Scott jumped out front in the Daniels Chevrolet Pure Stock division with Tripp Giffin in second. Lap three, Giffin spun off turn two giving up that second position to Charlie Coxwell. Lap four, Joe McKenzie and Ryan Hester battle for the third position with Hester taking the spot by inches. Lap six, Hester slips high and McKenzie makes the pass for third. With Scott still out front, lap eight, Hester regains third from McKenzie. Three laps to go, Coxwell and Hester get together in turn two sending Hester to the rear and McKenzie moves back to third. Coming to the white flag, Joe McKenzie spun off turn four. With a green-white checkered finish, Luke Scott takes the checkered, Charlie Coxwell second, Jottie Burgamy third, Brent Herndon fourth, and Lance Griffith fifth. Congratulations Wesley Coleman for picking up his first points championship and earning the 2013 Daniels Chevrolet Points Champion!
Up next, in the Extreme Concrete Mini Stock division, Tim Wilkerson takes the lead with Brad McKenzie in second, and Big Roger McKenzie third. Lap two, making his way from the rear, Joey Schoen took over the fourth position. With the top three trying to hold off Schoen and break that record breaking winning streak, lap five, Schoen moved to the inside of Roger McKenzie for third. Lap eight, Schoen moves to the outside of Brad McKenzie to pass off turn two. Running the high side, with McKenzie inside, Schoen goes over the back wall sending him to the rear on the restart. Tim Wilkerson held a healthy lead as Joey Schoen began to make his way back through the field. Four laps to go, Schoen passed Roger McKenzie for the third position. Tim Wilkerson takes the checkered 4 seconds over second place. Coming to the checkered side by side Brad McKenzie beats Joey Schoen by exactly a tenth of a second, only inches, to pick up second. Finishing out the top five were Roger McKenzie and Payton Johnson. Congratulations to Extreme Concrete Mini Stock Points Champion Joey Schoen!
Battling for $1000 to win, Tommy Davis and Joey Schoen led the field to green in the West Main Pit Stop 440 division. Tommy Davis took the lead as Brian Balcom rolled into second and Joey Schoen third. Halfway, Dan Simmons passed Joey Schoen off turn four for the third position. Coming to the checkered flag, Brian Balcom took the lead from Tommy Davis. In post-race inspection, Balcom was disqualified and Tommy Davis picked up the win. After third place Dan Simmons was disqualified, Joey Schoen moved to second, John Hooks third, Justin Thompson fourth, and Rod Morris fifth. Congratulations Tommy Davis 2013 West Main Pit Stop 440 Points Champion!
With some extra added excitement, Swainsboro Raceway held its annual Powder Puff event with thirteen ladies taking the green. Lap one, Jolie Wiggins led the way with Debra Lovett in second and Amy Herndon third. Going into turn three Herndon spun. Lap two, Daphine Adams moved to the lead. Lap three, Debra Lovett passed Wiggins for second. Lap four, Melissa Holt moved into third. Lap five, Debra Lovett took the lead. Debra Lovett took the checkered, Daphine Adams second, Melissa Holt third, Jolie Wiggins fourth, and Gail Williamson fifth.
Ending the night with excitement was the first ever employee race. Seven Swainsboro Raceway employees took the green. Jason Arrington took the lead with John Flemming second, Wesley King third. Lap two, King appeared to have problems and Ted Sconyers moved into third. Taking the checkered with only Jason Arrington grabbed the win, John Flemming second, Ted Sconyers third, Mitch Proctor fourth, and Trent Kersey fifth.
