Swainsboro Raceway Host the BIG ONE!!

Racing action at Swainsboro Raceway was hot and heavy Saturday night with forty-one drivers on scene to battle it out in the Zaxby’s Crate Late Model division. Austin Kirkpatrick picked up $100 bonus for driving the furthest courtesy of Screven Motorsports. The drivers took the track in group qualifying to set the field for the four heat race events. Swainsboro’s Ben Faircloth grabbed the $200 GRW Racing Engines fastest qualifier award. After four heat races, Chesley Dixon and young gun Jak Kicklighter led the field to 30 lap green. Lap one, Jak Kicklighter took the lead riding a rail on the outside of Iron Head Chesley Dixon and Russell Minton fell into the third position. Lap two, a major pile up middle of the pack off turn two sent Bob Robertson, Terry Lumley, and Brian Conner to the pits for the evening. Lap three, Ben Faircloth moved into the third position making his way from fifth. Lap thirteen, Brandon Overton slipped allowing Brian Ligon to make the pass for the fifth position. Seven laps to go, Chesley Dixon spun off turn two on the restart losing a wheel and giving up the third position. Jak Kicklighter dominated the event making his way several times through lapped traffic and took the checkered grabbing $3000 to win and a guaranteed starting position in the Turkey 100 $20,000 courtesy of Mitch Proctor owner of Southland Insurance Group. Ben Faircloth picked up second after starting fifth. Starting third Gib Gibbons held on to bring home a third place finish. Moving from the seventh starting position, Brian Ligon finished fourth. Rounding out the top five, after starting tenth, veteran driver Cecil Eunice.
In the Sunoco Super Street division, Rod Wiggins took the lead with Luke Scott in second. Lap two, Scott got under the rear quarter panel of Wiggins as Wiggins spun bringing out the cautions. Both Wiggins and Scott pitted allowing Danny “Scab” Scarboro to move into the lead. Filling in the second and third position was Butch Henry and Jimmy Maness. Lap three, Jamey Donaldson slipped allowing Rod Wiggins back around for the fourth position. Lap four, Donaldson broke running in the fifth position. Danny Scarboro took the checkered, Butch Henry held onto second, Rod Wiggins made his way back to third, Jimmy Maness fourth, and John Warren finished out the top five.
After a single file restart in the Adams Construction Road Warrior division, Eric Weber lead lap one with Alf Wimberly in second. Lap three, Wimberly off the pace in turn two brought out the caution allowing Lil Charlie Coxwell to move into the second position. Lap four, coming off turn four Weber got sideways, Coxwell tried the outside but Weber held the lead. Lap five, coming off turn four Weber and Coxwell got together both wrecking under the flag stand. George Williamson took the lead on the restart with Derrick Screws in second. Lap six, Justin Hart running in fourth hit a wet spot in turn one slipping allowing Derrick Oglesby to pass. Oglesby came around pushing high in turn four allowing Hart back by and Jody Ivy to move into fifth. Lap eight, Ivy moved by Hart for the fourth position. George Williamson took the checkered, Derrick Screws finish second but was disqualified in post race inspection allowing Tyler Holt to take home the second position. Finishing out the top five were Jody Ivy third, Justin Hart fourth, and Alf Wimberly fifth.
Continuing the action in the Daniels Chevrolet Pure Stock division, Brent Herndon took the lead over Shannon Scott and Charlie Coxwell. Lap four, unfortunate for Coxwell he had to five up the third position to pit for flat tire. Lap seven, Shelton Richardson running in the fifth position broke off turn two. Lap eight, Ryan Hester running in the fourth position drove hard off turn four allowing Coxwell to move back up. Brent Herndon still leading the way, three laps to go, JJ Williams moved inside Shannon Scott for the second position. Coming to the white flag, Scott took control once again passing Williams on the inside off turn two. Brent Herndon took the checkered, Shannon Scott second, JJ Williams third, Ryan Hester fourth, and Charlie Coxwell fifth.
In the Extreme Concrete Mini Stock division, Tim Wilkerson took the lead and left second at battle. Brad McKenzie moved into second but had heavy heat from Timmy Thompson in third. Lap five, Thompson moved inside McKenzie for second. Tim Wilkerson took the checkered, Timmy Thompson second, Brad McKenzie third, and Payton Johnson fifth.
Tommy Davis and Tommy Hadden led the West Main Pit Stop 440 division to green. Davis quickly took the lead with Hadden falling into second and John Hooks third. Hooks made his way around Hadden for the second position. Coming from sixth, Rod Morris passed Hadden for third. Tommy Davis returned to victory lane, John Hooks held second, Rod Morris third, Tommy Hadden fourth, and Tyler Williamson fifth.
Ending the night, Pearson Lee Williams took the lead off turn two in the Zaxby’s Crate Late Model B-Main event. John Bratcher fell into second. Moving through the field Aaron Ridley passed Stacy Roberts for the third position. As Bratcher slipped back, Ridley moved into second. Pearson Lee Williams took the checkered, Aaron Ridley second, Stacy Roberts third, John Bratcher fourth, and Luke Scott finished out the top five in his first late model appearance.
