With cloudy skies, wind, and rain, drivers toughed it out Saturday night for the second race of the 2014 season at Swainsboro Raceway.  In the Zaxby’s Crate Late Model division, Swainsboro’s Austin Scarboro grabbed the fastest qualifying time for the feature event.  Taking the green, Wendell Chavous jumped into the lead with Scarboro in second and Jeremy Faircloth third.  Lap two, Faircloth drove hard in turn four to the inside of Scarboro for the second position.  A caution on lap six grouped the field back together.  Faircloth made several attempts in the turns to get by Chavous for the lead. Driving the power house off the turns, Wendell Chavous took the checkered for his first win of the season.  Rounding out the top five was Jeremy Faircloth, Austin Scarboro, Chesley Dixon, and Timbo Mangum finished fifth in his first appearance at Swainsboro Raceway.

In the Sunoco Street division, Luke Scott takes the lead on the start as Phillip Burton rides the high side and falls back to the sixth position.  Lap two, Andy Stewart moves into second as David Murrah gets loose.  Half way, Murrah running the third position breaks ending his night early and allowing Danny Scarboro to move up.  Luke Scott dominated with a 2.5 second lead of second place picking up his first win of the season.  Side by side at the checkered, Andy Stewart picked up second place over Danny Scarboro.  Jamey Donaldson ended the night with fourth and Phillip Burton fifth.

Repeating an exciting battle from last week, Dustin Watkins and Alan Wilkerson led the field to green in the Daniels Chevrolet Pure Stock division. Watkins took the lead as Wilkerson fought the outside hard falling back to the fourth position.  Following in third was Jared Jones and Wesley Coleman fourth.  Lap four, off turn two Coleman took over the second position on the inside.  Coleman battled Watkins for the lead but unable to make the pass allowing Dustin Watkins to pick up to straight wins.  Jared Jones maintained the third position with Alan Wilkerson in fourth and JJ Williams fifth.

In the Mini Stock division, Tim Wilkerson took the lead on lap one over Timmy Thompson in the second position.  Lap four, Brad McKenzie running in the third position spun in turn three.  On the restart, McKenzie quickly made his way back around Joey Schoen for the third position but not for long when Schoen took McKenzie on the inside off turn four.  For several laps Wilkerson and Thompson battle for the lead as Schoen and McKenzie battle for the third position.  Tim Wilkerson held off Timmy Thompson by 3 tenths of a second to take the checkered and pick up his second win of the season followed by Joey Schoen in third and Brad McKenzie fourth.

Up next, Tyler Holt took the lead in the Adams Construction Road Warrior division with Jason Kight and Derrick Screws in the top three.  Lap four, Screws moved inside Kight off turn two for the second position.  Lap five, racing for the third position, Justin Hart and Jason Kight got together bringing out the caution allowing Jimmy Morris and Kylie Avery to move up.  Lap six, off turn two, Jimmy Morris spun giving up the third position to Avery.  Four laps to go, Derrick Screws got loose off turn four bringing out the caution.  In her first appearance at Swainsboro Raceway, Kylie Avery moved into the second position.  On the restart, unfortunately for Kylie Avery her night ended early as she broke giving up the second position.  Making his way from the rear after caution on lap five, Jason Kight now held the second position.  Back to a green-white-checkered finish, Tyler Holt led the way but fought hard for one last lap with a flat tire to hold on to that first position.  Battling a flat in the turns for that last 3/8 mile, Jason Kight moved by Holt for the lead.  Jason Kight took the checkered for his first win, Tyler Holt held onto second, Derrick Screws third, Jimmy Morris fourth, and Jody Ivey fifth.

On the start in the 440 division, John Hooks jumped out front with Blake Williamson second and Justin Thompson third.  Battling in fourth, defending points champion Tommy Davis took a hard hit off turn three losing a tire and ending his night early having two weeks of bad luck.  Lap three Williamson and Thompson racing for second share metal off turn two, Williamson pulled down and stopped bringing out the caution sending him to the rear.  John Hooks held off Justin Thompson to pick up his first win of the season, Rod Morris picked up third, Russell Hughes fourth, and Paul Carroll fifth.

Ending the night four ladies to the track in the first Powder Puff event of the season.  Earning a trophy and bragging rights driving Derrick Screws #69 Road Warrior was Samantha Shatto, Patricia Beck finished second, Julie Hutcheson third, and Janah Thompson fourth.
