Davis Makes Memories at Swainsboro Raceway!

Saturday night racing action began at Swainsboro Raceway with the Zaxby’s Crate Late Model division. After qualifying, Jeremy Faircloth and Chris Usry lead the field to green in the feature event. In turn one, Faircloth took the lead as Chesley Dixon jumped outside Usry to battle for the second position. Jeremy Faircloth took the checkered grabbing two wins in a row, Chris Usry held onto the second position, Chesley Dixon third, Michael Akeson fourth, and Wendell Chavous fifth.

In the Sunoco Super Street division, Jottie Burgamy and Luke Scott started front row. Both drivers held on side by side before Scott took the lead on lap two in turn one and Burgamy fell into the second position. Lap four, Tommy Clinard running third spun off turn two allowing Jamey Donaldson to move up. Lap five, Tommy Hadden running fourth slipped in three allowing George Williamson to move under. Hadden quickly regained the fourth position on the front stretch. Luke Scott held off Jottie Burgamy to take the checkered. Jame Donaldson takes home third as Tommy Clinard moves outside for fourth on the last lap, and Tommy Hadden fifth.

Bringing out some heated action, the Daniels Chevrolet Pure Stock division started with a three wide battle for the lead between Jared Jones, John Brantley, and Brent Herndon. Jared Jones took the lead off turn four. Lap three, Wesley Coleman move inside Brantley from the third position on the back stretch. Lap five, Brent Herndon took over the lead on the back moving to the inside of Jared Jones. Halfway, Wesley Coleman took over second off turn four. Four laps to go, Jones spun off turn four running in the third position. On the restart, three time winner, Dustin Watkins moved into the third position on the front as Brantley falls to fourth. Coming to the checkered off turn four, Brent Herndon held off Wesley Coleman underneath his left rear to take the checkered. Rounding out the top five Dustin Watkins, John Brantley, and Thomas Tanner.

Up next, Joey Schoen began his battle to fight hard for his first win of the season after taking the heat race win. Battling door to door, Tim Wilkerson on the outside takes the lead at the flag stand. Lap three, Chris Wilkerson drove off the back in the third position. Schoen made several nudges to catch Tim Wilkerson slipping. Tim Wilkerson drove hard earning another visit to Victory Lane, Joey Schoen settled for second, Timmy Thompson third, Payton Johnson held off the battle behind him several laps to take fourth, and Chris Wilkerson fifth.

Single file restart in the Adams Construction Road Warrior division put Seth Clark out front over Tyler Holt. Lap two, Derrick Screws running in the fourth position took hard turn to the pits. Lap three, defending points champion Tyler Holt spin off four running in the second position. After several cautions, Seth Clark held onto the lead taking his first checkered flag. After post race inspection, Jason Kight picked up the win, Ricky Strange second, Kylie Avery third, Derrick Oglesby fourth and Tyler Holt fifth.

In the 440 division, John Whisnant started front row picking up heat race win. On the start, Russell Hughes joined Whisnant to battle for the lead. Whisnant held Hughes off for the lead and lap three Hughes was forced to pit and Paul “Donut” Carroll moved into second. Whisnant fighting hard in the turns gave up the lead to Rod Morris and Tommy Davis in second. Unfortunately for Morris his night ended with mechanical problems. On his wedding day, Tommy Davis took the checkered grabbing two wins in a row. Justin Thompson moved from the eighth position to take home second, John Whisnant held onto third, Paul Carroll fourth, and Mollie Boyd fifth.

Ending the night, Henry Fulghum picked up the win in first Mechanics race of the season. Defending mechanics race winner Franklin Carter took second, Darwin Tapley third, Will Tanner fourth, and Robert Coleman fifth.
