Scare House of the South 440 Finish Inches Apart at Swainsboro Raceway!

As the full moon lit up the sky Saturday night at Swainsboro Raceway, racing action was at its hottest. The Scare House of the South 440 division took the track as the first feature event of the night. Lap one, Tommy Davis and Rod Morris battle door to door for the lead with Davis taking control. After struggling and missing his heat race, points leader John Whisnant started at the rear of the feature. Going into turn two, unfortunate for Whisnant his engine blew causing heavy fire under the rear of his car and ending his night. Halfway, Morris still hot on Davis’ rear bumper and Terry Davis held down third. Coming to the checkered, door to door, inches separating the two, Rod Morris pulled his way to Victory over Terry Davis. Morris picked up his eighth feature win and took the points lead. Terry Davis took third, Keith Bragg fourth, and Joey Maffo fifth in his second career start.

In the Sunoco Super Street division, Luke Scott took the lead over points leader Andy Stewart. Canaan Cranford knocks hard on the door of Stewart for second. Monk Gulledge and Brent Herndon battle for the fourth position. Lap five, Cranford tries the inside of Stewart but fails to take position. Lap six, Cranford took over the second position and Scott walks away with the lead. Two to go, Gulledge moves by Stewart for the third position. Luke Scott returns to Victory Lane, Cannan Cranford takes second, Monk Gulledge third, Andy Stewart fourth, and Brent Herndon fifth.

Returning for domination once again, Chet Chester picks up the fastest qualifying time in the Zaxby’s Crate Late Model division. On the second restart, a pile up in turn two caused heavy damage to several cars and sent some to the pits including outside pole sitter Brandon Carpenter. With a single file restart, Chester led the field with Tyler Mimbs second with heavy body damage, Lap one, Cole Godowns took the inside of Mimbs for the second position. Halfway, Blake Smith moved in on Mimbs to battle for third. Five to go, Chester and Godowns both held half track lead on third place. Chet Chester swept the win, Cole Godowns picked up his best run of the season and took second, Tyler Mimbs third, Blake Smith fourth, and Scooter Taylor fifth.

Leading lap one side by side in the Roger Wheeler Construction Road Warrior division, Alex Sturkie and Austin Williamson battled for the first position. The top three were stacked for the lead. A caution on lap three allowed Sturkie to try the inside for the lead but Williamson pulls ahead in turn two. Lap four, Logan Tanner and Graham Stevenson scrubbed metal for the third position at the bumper of Sturkie in second. Four laps to go, Sturkie moves by Williamson for the lead. Two to go, Graham Stevenson broke in the fourth position. Alex Sturkie earns the win, Austin Williamson picks up his best finish in second, Todd Hutcheson took home third, Will Woods fourth, Daniel Fluett finishes out top five.

Nineteen cars took the green in the Daniels Chevrolet Pure Stock division, JJ Williams led Ricky Strange for lap one. Lap three, Jason Floyd takes the third position. Lap five, Brent Herndon put the heat on Glen Watkins for the fourth position. JJ Williams held off the field to take the checkered, Ricky Strange second, Jason Floyd third, Glen Watkins fourth, and Brent Herndon finished out the top five.
