Parkhurst Earns first Career Win at Swainsboro Raceway!
Getting geared up for the Annual Pine Tree 100, exciting racing action continued Saturday night at Swainsboro Raceway. In the 602 Crate Late Model division, Tyler Mimbs and Ahnna Parkhurst battle side by side for the lead. Parkhurst took the lead as Terry Lumley worked on Mimbs for the second position. By lap four, Parkhurst held at least a 5 car length lead. After announcing earlier in the week on social media that she would not be able to race due to her mother’s medical condition, with much prayer, support, and God’s work, Mrs. Parkhurst condition stabilized and Ahnna Purkhurst was able to make it to Swainsboro Raceway. Ahnna showed up and showed out earning her very first career late model win celebrating in Victory Lane immediately with a phone call from her mother who was home watching on race monitor. Ahnna Parkhurst led every lap taking the checkered in the 602 Crate Late Model event, Tyler Mimbs held onto second, Terry Lumley third, Shannon Graham fourth, and Gene Thompson fifth.
In the Zaxby’s Crate Late Model division, a Swainsboro dueling duo started front row with Chesley Dixon inside and Jeremy Faircloth outside. On the start, Faircloth takes the lead over Dixon. Shannon Graham gets by Chesley Dixon for second but Dixon quickly regains the position. Ahnna Parkhurst and Shane Riner battled for the fourth position. Five to go, in fifth Parkhurst spun ending her night early. Jeremy Faircloth took the checkered for the first time this season, Shane Riner moved up to second, Michael Akeson third, Donnie Bazemore fourth, and Dustin Watkins fifth.
Battling for $1000 in the Scare House of the South 440 division, Justin Stephens and John Whisnant lead the field for lap one. Rod Morris in third chasing down Whisnant. Tommy Davis hot on the tracks of Morris. Justin Stephens led the entire event taking the checkered and earning his first win for the season, John Whisnant second, Tommy Davis third, Rod Morris fourth, and Michael Douberley fifth.
After a rough ending the previous week, Andy Stewart returned to take the lead over Brent Herndon in the Sunoco Super Street division. Stewart led flag to flag taking the checkered, Brent Herndon second, Jimmy Maness third, Phillip Burton fourth, and Rye Faulk fifth.
In the Roger Wheeler Construction Road Warrior division, Gene Thompson and David Ussery side by side lap one for the lead. Ussery takes the lead. Halfway, Logan Tanner loses third with a broke axle ending his night early. David Ussery takes the checkered earning his first win of the year, Gene Thompson second, Fate Carroll third, Chandler Strom fourth, and Chad Hutchinson fifth.
Ending the night in the Daniels Chevrolet Pure Stock division, Jamey Donaldson took the lead. Lap two, Roger McKenzie looks underneath Donaldson but unable to complete the pass. Lap six, Donaldson over drove allowing McKenzie to take over the lead. Three to go, Derrick Screws tries Donaldson for second. Roger McKenzie first night out took the checkered, Derrick Screws second, Jamey Donaldson third, Willis McKenzie fourth, and Alex Sturkie fifth.
