The historic Swainsboro Raceway is located in beautiful Swainsboro, GA just off HWY 56.  The ½ mile dirt track was opened to automobile racing in 1964 on Sunday afternoons.  In 1964, there were only 3 different divisions to compete in and only grandstands to seat 100 spectators.

Over the last 41 years, several additions and improvements have been made to the facilities at Swainsboro Raceway.  In 2000, the track was purchased by Paul and Debra Purvis, both who have been involved with dirt racing for over 20 years.  They along with the staff have made several significant upgrades at the facility.  There is an office that is open everyday Monday thru Saturday allowing the competitors, fans, and sponsors to communicate with the owners and officials at anytime.  Information on Swainsboro Raceway can also be accessed on the World Wide Web at .

Swains Raceway now holds regular racing events on Saturday Nights with 5 different racing divisions.  There is now grandstand seating that is available to seat 3000 race fans, and upgraded infield area that has 125 pit stalls, a modern infield and grandstand concession stand, a Fan Zone parking area that has 59 parking spots for race fans who like to park and watch the race from the back of their RV or truck, plus camping areas with all the amenities. An additional 200 pit stalls, new lighting, and new restrooms were added in 2006.  At the end of the 2007 season the track surface was changed from a ½ mile to a 3/10  mile and 400 loads of new clay was added.  This change was made to create 2 and 3 wide,  side-by-side racing and that it did.

Our average attendance is over 2500 adults from the age of 18-62 and an average car count of 102 each racing night.  During the 2005 racing season, 529 different drivers were registered for various events.  Swainsboro Raceway is also host to the World of Outlaws Super Late Models and Schaffer’s Southern Nationals.

Another addition to the track is a fenced in playground area for the younger race fans.  Several times throughout the year there are special events held and kids are given the chance to race bicycles, power wheels, and on foot.  These special events have truly made Swainsboro Raceway a family entertainment place.

Recently added is an enclosed concession stand with air conditioned seating to enjoy Roundman’s  Racing Pig Steak Sandwich.  A new addition in 2011 is VIP Seating available for any racing fan that wants the ultimate experience with three air conditioned suites equipped with cable TV, cold drink coolers and the perfect view of the entire racetrack.  Suites are available  for groups of eight.
